Driving to Canberra

             I heard a loud buzzing noise and opened my eyes. It was three in the morning and I had to wake up. Our family was going on a holiday to Canberra and we had decided to drive. We had decided to go early, so we could get through the city easily and be halfway to our destination before the day had started.
             I slumped out of bed and went to have a shower. The house was really quiet with my brother and sisters still sleeping and only my parents awake. We had packed our bags the night before, so after I had my shower I started to help my dad pack the car.
             When I walked out the front door to pack the car, it was still dark and the stars were still sparkling in the sky. The air outside was crisp and the grass and car were covered with a thin coat of white frost.
             After we had finished packing the car, we all started to get ready to leave. I could see the happy faces of my brothers and sisters as they were getting ready to go, and I myself was feeling very excited.
             After we were all packed and ready to go, we set off. My parents expected all of us to be sleeping but we were to excited to sleep. As we entered the city, I noticed it looked different at night time. The big sky scrapers cast dark shadows over the road, and the signs and lights that lined the streets glowed in the dark night sky.
             After we had driven out of the city part of Melbourne, we started driving through the outer suburbs. This was when the scenery changed dramatically. The streets seemed to get darker and the shadows of these streets were very, very spooky. As we started driving out of Melbourne and into open country, I fell asleep listening to the droan of the engine.
             When I woke the sun was rising and my dad said we were going for breakfast at McDonalds. As the sun rose, the sky became lighter but it was covered with gloomy grey clouds. I could tell it was going to be a cold, dreary day.
