Marijuana should be legalized! Marijuana, cannabis, is a plant that is used for many reasons. Marijuana was utilized as far back as 2737 B.C. by Chinese emperor Shen Nung. Then a Chinese physician mixed cannabis and white wine to make an anesthetic. By the 1890s, some medical reports had stated that marijuana was a useful pain reliever. If marijuana is legalized, a lot of drug dealers would vanish, money spent on drug testing would decrease dramatically, and marijuana has a lot of benefits to offer.
             By legalizing marijuana, a lot of drug dealers will be eliminated on the streets. Smugglers would be eliminated as well. More than 300,000 people a year are arrested on marijuana charges. This leads to overcrowding of prisons and the clogging of courts. The use of informers and entrapment, mandatory urine testing and unwarranted searches for the search or use of marijuana is more common. Now the legalization of this will have no effect in the jails and courts. Also, less money would be spent on the testing of drugs. Marijuana should be legalized just as alcohol is.
             Money spent on drug testing would decrease dramatically. That money can be used for other useful things such as education, government, or transportation. The government would be able to stop drug testing for the use of marijuana except when driving. It saves a lot of money because the government wouldn't have to buy more drug testing equipment. The money used for this testing could be used for supplies, new equipment, and many other products needed. This society definitely cannot be drug-free and be free.
