Romeo and Juliet

“ This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die ”(5.3.183) the last words to come from the lips of a thirteen-year-old girl before she drives a dagger into her heart. The words of a girl named Juliet Capulet in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Her choice to take her own life is made because of her love for a boy named Romeo Montague who made the same choice she did for the same reason. This is the last choice these two made and the only one that they thought they had left because of the childish decisions they had made earlier in the story. The death of these two could have been avoided easily just by making the right choices. Some may think that there was no way to avoid their deaths. Some think fate caused their tragic deaths but it was really childish decisions that brought about their demise.

The first choice Romeo makes is when he decides to go to Capulets party. By doing this he has all ready set the stage for his death. If he didn’t go to the party he would have never met Juliet and he would have still been heart broken about his other love

. . .
However, Romeo still holds the final decision. You may argue that it is fate that Romeo met the servant who let him in the party. Their impetuous decision causes their horrible tragedy. Obviously this is another decision that was made without thinking. They each fall in love with the looks of the other. However they still decide to marry secretly. Then he makes another plan to allow Romeo to take Juliet to Mantua. This decision is bringing their suicides closer to being reality. “ Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For ne’er saw true beauty till this night. It is clear for them to see how impossible their love is.

When Romeo first sees Juliet inside the party he is astounded by her beauty and claims he is in love. However Romeo is exiled and his plan is no longer an option.
