The Hobbit

             "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit" (P.1). This is how Tolkien this is how the book begins. It is a story of a small hobbit named Bilbo and his vast journey through the evil world of middle earth. Bilbo lives in the shire, it is very calm and pleasant. Needing a burglar on his journey Gandalf the Grey comes to ask Bilbo for help. Gandalf came with thirteen dwarves who were after their stolen treasure. Smaug, who overtook "Lonely Mountain" years ago, took the treasure. Bilbo didn't want to go, but with his ability to escape quietly in the woods and mountains he was the perfect burglar for the job. The group of now fifteen venture to find trolls, orcs, goblins, wargs, wood elves, giant spiders, a dragon and numerous natural disasters including wind, snow, rain and fiery heat. But none of these obstacles measure up to the most dangerous enemy to all. This powerful enemy is the greed and lust for the gold and precious jewels that lure the dwarves to get it back at any cost.
             Bilbo was thrown off guard and didn't really know what his purpose was on this adventure. He demanded explanations. With the dwarves was Thorin son of Thrain King under the Mountain. This is how he was known. Thorin was now the rightful heir to the treasure of Lonely Mountain. So he gave the explanations. Bilbo listened closely as the dwarves sang songs of their long ago taken land. Singing of "golden hoards" and "long-forgotten gold" Bilbo began to become very enthusiastic about the journey (P.22). As the dwarves told more, Bilbo felt that this journey would do him good. He accepted the task, but not before the dwarves and Gandalf told him of the treasure to that were to be found. Already being fairly well off Bilbo had no need for this wealth, but before long the hobbit could feel " the love of beautiful things made by hands and by cunning and by magic moving through him, and a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves" (...
