Pollution

             Imagine one day having to walk outside wearing a mask; or not being able to open the windows of your house on a cool spring day. Or even worst, imagine looking out of you window and not seeing any form of life. All the vegetation has died off due to acid rain and severe damage from sulfur poisoning. The birds and squirrels that used to fill your backyard are now gone due to the same reason. These ideas can become reality real soon if something is not done about a problem that is even bigger than the war in Iraq.
             Pollution is a problem that has plagued our society and planet for centuries. Although there have been many technological advances in the field; pollution does not seem to be getting better. Places that have very low pollution rates are now being destroyed by pollution from other parts of the world.1 Sure there are new regulations in place to prevent further damage, but what about the damage that has already been done. Who even says these regulations will help after so many other attempts have failed?
             This paper will give a general understanding about how pollution is a problem all over the world. It will help in the understanding that there is not only water and air pollution, but types of pollution that have even more devastating effects on the planet. In addition, the damage that has been caused will be discussed with possible solutions of how to prevent further damage and loss of life.
             Air pollution is groups of unnatural substances that contaminate and destroy the atmosphere around us. It turns clear, odorless air that supports life into hazy, bad smelling air that destroys life. Not only does it destroy life, but it destroys the environment's natural beauty as well.2
