What is the Wave of the World

The world in the play reflects Congreve's own society and revolves around a witty young man, winning a lady and her fortune after overcoming the obstacles posed by hostile relations and other people. The plot is complicated by the ways of the world. Mirabell has offended Lady Wishfort and is opposed by Fainall and his mistress, Mrs Marwood.
