After Life Story

             The moment we enter this world our journey begins. We start from an infant to an adult. Life is a struggle that ends with death. As for me, death was the most important journey I had to overcome. In every journey or adventure there is always a beginning. I had an average childhood with a great, supportive, loving family. I married my high school sweetheart, and had two beautiful children. I considered us the ideal family, the American family. Of course, there were arguments and disagreements, but I had no doubt we, as a family, could overcome them as well as any obstacle that may come our way. I never knew in my wildest dreams that I would lose such a great part of me, my children.
             The morning was not any different from any other day. We all ate breakfast together and went on with our day. I went to work as usual not aware that my life would soon change. As I arrived home from work a strange chill ran through my body. My phone rang and my husband appeared at the living room completely hysterical. I had to calm him down, only to discover that I lost my two children due to a careless driver. My whole body grew numb. I felt something that I had never felt before, and that was the uncontrollable rage and throbbing pain growing deep inside me. This instant alteration of my present family ceased the happiness that was shared between my husband and I. Since my husband grew distant and showed no signs of letting go, he began to influence me as well. I tried to help by being the stronger person of the two, but that did not last long. He blamed himself for the death of our children. If only he drove that day he could have prevented the accident. I would stare into his blank eyes and only see the despair in his eyes. Soon, we were just like robots who felt nothing and could care less about the world nor its inhabitants for they too do not see the relevance of their existence.
