Memorandum
The purpose of this memo is to convey my research proposal to fulfill my Middler Year Writing Requirement. This memo will explain how the Hybrid Intercooler works, why it should be used on vehicles today, and the future goals of the project. Also included will be an explanation of who the audience is and why they are the ones chosen for this report to be sent to.The world of engineering today is constantly searching for new products to increase the efficiency of vehicles. Over the next few years we will see an incredible growth in products such as fuel cells and changes in aerodynamics to help raise the efficiency and performance of vehicles. For these reasons I began to study where there are current systems on vehicles that can be modified to increase performance. Through a detailed study I have found that there can be incredible horsepower and efficiency increases by modifying the method that intake chamber air is cooled and used for combustion. The problem with proposing a new system to modify intake air is that air to air intercoolers, or nitrous oxide systems and other similar performance products have already been made and nearly perfected. When the pump is activated the belt that is attached to the engine creates a drag on the engine because it is required to power a unit besides the drive shaft, the alternator, etc. To do this the unit must pressurize the air which makes it very hot, when this pressurized air is added with the heat created by the unit itself, the air is capable of reaching temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. I am sure you know that with the activation of every vehicles air conditioning (A/C) unit there is an immediate horsepower decrease as well as a drop in the efficiency. Using these classes I learned enough form each course that I was able to enter different coop jobs and use these skills to the advantage of a company. My final report will greatly detail these ideas so as to explain in greater detail how all of this is possible. The underlying goal of the report will be to sell this proposal to the readers to make them wish to support and work with a project such as this. These are all necessary systems if a driver wants to be comfortable and have the luxury of temperature control within their vehicle. If college is meant to prepare student to help benefit society with what they can offer then I am fully qualified to help in the automotive industry. Following these requirements will enable me to meet the necessities called for by the Technical Writing course. To do that I would need to modify a system that is in need of modification so as to reap as much gain as possible. Competing with an industry as large as the automotive industry is a job that is incredibly time consuming and expensive, to avoid this I have designed this product to work for vehicles that use turbochargers and superchargers. The Hybrid Intercooler is an accumulation of all of these courses in order to prepare students for real world applications. QualificationsIn the past five years at Northeastern University I have spent much time studying different applications of Heat Transfer, Physics, Fluid Dynamics, and Power Generation just to name a few. I have found a way to increase the power using these same systems and make it so the passengers can still have a climate-controlled vehicle.
