Stress is the "wear and tear "our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing surroundings. No ones life is free of stress. Sometimes we are challenged by frustrations, losses, changes, and conflicts. It has physical and emotional effects on us and can affect the body with good or bad feelings. As a good influence, stress can help us to motivate to do something or just help us through the day. As a bad influence, it can result in distrust, anger, depression, or rejection, which can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, high blood pressure and sometimes death. In adjusting to different circumstances, stress can help or hurt us depending how we react to it.Throughout my life, I have been challenged by frustrations, losses and changes. Pressure can lead to frustration. Being out of school for sixteen years and then returning and going to college, the pressure I put on myself to do well and receive the best grade I can, leads to this frustration. In 1983, the loss of my grandfather had put a stress over me. Anxiety and fear were the key factors. But in time, these factors faded away and my life had overcome with change. The ways that I listed above are techniques that I use to prevent and deal with stress. Managing my time wisely keeps my routine orderly and efficient. Schedule regular recreation, plan vacations, and learn personal relaxation techniques. Decide on the first step necessary to deal with the problem and do it. To prevent major health problems and improve my overall being, managing stress is the key factor. There are many tips to help me accomplish this task. Positive stress adds anticipation and excitement to life and I can thrive under a certain amount of stress, but there are also negative stresses that can lead to anger, depression, distrust, and rejection. People respond differently to stress. If the first solution doesn't work, try again. Also the environment in which we live (temperature, noise, humidity, etc. Locating the source of stress and eliminating it is not always possible. Another way is to take a break from what I am doing once in awhile, so I feel refreshed and relaxed. This experience can lead her to motivate and study harder for the next test. For example, I am very prepared for my psychology test and anticipate a good grade, and for a classmate who is unprepared for the test and anticipates a bad grade.
