ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder is a neurobiological problem in an individual that interferes with one's capacity to regulate activity level (called hyperactivity), inhibit behavior (impulsivity), and even attend to simple tasks (inattention) inappropriate ways. ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed disorder of childhood. It effects 3-5 percent of school children, and occurs three times more often in boys than girls. ADHD in children causes them to have functional impairment across several settings including home, school, and their peers. They experience an inability to sit still and pay attention in class- and are punished in return. The main symptoms of ADHD are an inability to sustain attention and concentration, inappropriate levels of activity, impulsivity, and distractibility. If not treated, the effects of ADHD will affect an individual all thorough adulthood. About one child in every classroom in the United States needs treatment for this disorder.

Focusing on organizing and completing routines is a challenging task. Hyperactivity is probably the first that comes to your mind. Doctors will prescribe psychostimulant medications such as, methylphenidate (Ritalin), and amphetamines (Dexedrine, Dextrostst, and Adderall. Impulsivity is the third symptom that ADHD suffers show. They are often in trouble at school, have trouble making friends, and cannot even finish a game. Inattention is another symptom of ADHD in a child. The result of hyperactivity on the child is they will feel intensely restless. There is still much to learn about ADHD that the scientists have yet to discover. Research is needed to determine the societal impact of ADHD, the behavioral and cognitive components, and for the coexisting conditions present in both childhood and adult ADHD. That makes sitting through a class a difficult task. Imagine spending agonizing hours each night struggling to keep your mind on your homework- and then forget to bring it to school. Life for children with ADHD can be hard. People with inattentiveness have a hard time concentrating. There is no concrete study to prove that ADHD is caused by genetics, but signs show. ) They are by far the most studies, researched and commonly prescribed treatments for he disorder.
