General Manangers

             As a general manager or top executive, you create a vision or goal for the organization and make certain strategies and policies to make sure that these objectives are met. Such executives keep the business running out of bankruptcy. Top executives need to make sure managers are doing their jobs correctly because managers are responsible for the overall performance of one aspect of the organization. Such aspects include manufacturing, marketing, sales, purchasing, finance, personnel, training, hiring, administrative services, and day-to-day supervisory duties. Work is usually conducting in their offices or inside the organization. Top executives and general managers may have a flexible schedule, but it is usually standard that they work long hours maybe during the evenings and weekends. Long hours are needed to travel as a manager and as an executive. They also need to attend meetings and conferences, which might provide an opportunity to meet with future donors, customers, contractors, or government officials and allowing managers and executives to keep up with new technological advancements. Pressure falls under general managers and top executives because they try to earn higher profits, provide better service, and attain fundraising. Many general managers and top executives have a bachelor's degree or higher, in liberal arts or business administration. Besides the knowledge gained from school, general managers and top executives must also be able to communicate clearly and persuasively, have leadership skills, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgement, and determination. General managers and top executives are among the highest paid workers, but salaries vary greatly upon the level of managerial responsibility, length of service, and type, size, and location of the firm.
