Throughout my

paper I will focus on two major sports that African Americans made a impact on. I hope to give a better

understanding about the important role that black athletes played on breaking down racial

barriers and changing American history. Track

and field, and baseball will be my two major focuses for my paper. My paper will discuss the significance

and the positive affects that prominent black leaders engaged in to allow future African

Americans equal rights to participate in sports. such as Jesse Owens and Jackie Robinson,

they have open many doors for African Americans. I will also illustrate how African

American’s developed a sense of connection with their culture through sports and made

several sacrifices to show that all men and women are created equal.
