Abortion
Within the last 20 years or so, abortion has been one of the most intense topics being talked about in the United States and Canada. Abortion is a topic of human interaction where ethics, emotions, and the law come together. There are people that have dissimilar views of abortion, but no matter what their view is, they fall into two categories. There is pro-choice and the pro-life attitudes about abortion. These are the only two categories that people's views fall into. A pro-choice person feels that the choice to abort a pregnancy is that of the mother's and the government has no right to interfere. A pro-lifer feels that from the moment of conception, the embryo or fetus is alive. Since this embryo or fetus is alive and is a person, a woman has no moral right to abort the young life. If a woman aborted the embryo, then she would be committing murder. Murder is such a strong word. Murder means deliberate and unjustified killing of another person. Pro-lifers use this word a lot as a way to show what happens when you abort an embryo or fetus. The mother doesn't want to kill a baby; she wants to stop the growth of an embryo before it becomes a baby. If the mother aborts the embryo at an early stage it has
Preservation of life seems to be a slogan rather than a real goal of the anti-abortion forces; what they really want is power, to have power over our behavior and power over women's choices. What the pro-lifers don't see are the effects that will occur to the women involved. My personal opinion is that all women have the right to decide whether she wants to abort an unwanted pregnancy. If the mother gives birth to the baby that came about due to rape, she might not be able to bear the psychological trauma. They can die because their bodies aren't mature enough to handle the pregnancy. not been identified as human and that's why killing a potential life is less of an issue with a woman who is pro-choice. The pro-lifers don't see the same picture; they use the same old "murder" idea to not allow the pregnant women to get an abortion in a case of rape. A woman herself has to make a judgment on which is better for her. Can you really understand the issue of abortion unless you have been in the situation of possibly having one? What some people think is that having an abortion is an easy way out. Many teenagers cannot afford the right conditions for raising a child because they are still children themselves. They then judge them for their actions. A choice needs to be available to prevent the birth of unwanted children, to avoid damage to the child as well as women. The most common issue involving abortion is rape. Some women keep in mind that terminating a pregnancy might have to do with the health of the pregnant woman, or maybe this woman is unable to concentrate on the child's needs after it's born.
