Adam's Song
Teen suicide is no longer a rare thing; it occurs much more often now. So often that it is now the third leading cause of death for 15-to-24-year-olds, and the sixth leading cause of death for 5-to-14-year-olds. Each year 500,000 teens try killing themselves, 500 succeed. Every hour and forty-five minutes another young person commits suicide. Suicide in the teen years increases because there is greater access to lethal weapons, drugs and alcohol, and motor vehicles. Different genders use different methods; girls tend to overdose on drugs and cut themselves, and boys use firearms or hang themselves more frequently. Teenagers experience a lot in life that causes pain and depression and leads to suicide, strong feelings of stress, confusion, self-doubt, pressure to succeed, and financial uncertainty are just a few. Many symptoms of suicidal feelings are similar to those
The members of Blink 182 got together and wrote this sad, slow song about the boy. A teenager who is planning to commit suicide may also: complain of being a bad person; give verbal hints with statements such as: "I won't be a problem for you much longer," "Nothing matters," and "I won't see you again"; put his or her affairs in order; become suddenly cheerful after a period of depression; and have hallucinations or bizarre thoughts. Blink 182 is now a very successful rock band. The song came out a lot sadder than they planned for it to, but this was not a negative thing. This song moves people, and that is what makes it such a good song. Blink 182 is three San Diego area natives, Mark Hoppus, Tom Delonge, and Travis Barker, who is not their original drummer, Scott Raynor is. They are known for their hard driving, thrash sound. They three claim to have met back in 1993 at an annual Future Proctologists of America camping trip, but these three are known for their practical jokes. A teenage boy wrote the letter to his parents before he committed suicide. Tom and Scott met at a party a long time ago and started talking and decided that they wanted to start a band. They have toured all over the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia. The three actually met a totally different way. This song proved that Blink 182 was capable of writing songs with depth and emotional meaning. That is perfect for surfing, skating, and snowboarding scenes.
