American Revolution

The Revolutionary War impacted the lives of the inhabitants of the new nation. Sometimes a group of people was effected and other times a class of people was the victim. The changes, sometimes small, were none-the-less significant in the lives of those in America. The Revolutionary War changed the lives of the inhabitants of the new nation in many different ways depending on whether they were upper class, lower class, slaves or Native Americans. After the war, the upper class was drastically effected by the changes in the nation. They simplify their standards of living and they begin to treat common people, the lower class, with respect. Before the war, the upper class looked down upon the lower class and would not allow themselves to mix with them. This doesn't seem as important anymore for they are a nation, united and free. Before the war they had another country backing them. There was no need for military support, but now, the need grew larger. The Revolutionary War changed the lives of the inhabitants of the new nation in many different ways depending on whether they were upper class, lower class, slaves or Native Americans. Very few states give freed men the right to vote. Unequal treatment, however, is still a major part of their lives. Northern states grant gradual emancipation at the war's end. They rely on each other for help growing their crops and maintaining their farms. The Revolutionary War had an effect on everyone. This causes greater unity among the slave population. Southern states, however, grant no emancipation; because the plantation owners need the men for their labor. Without having to pay the taxes, they can now sell their crops and gain a profit. The Americans begin to push the Native Americans off the land on which they are settling. The slaves are effected the greatest by the ending of the war for they are beginning to get the freedom for which they have longed. Being citizens, they now have the right to vote among other rights, which they were formerly denied.
