Aztecs and Native Americans
Two of the biggest and greatest civilization in the Americas werethe Aztecs and Incas. These two civilization were both said to beconquered by the Spanish, but it wasn't just the Spanish whoconquered them. These two civilizations both fell from acombination of a weak government, lack of technology, newdisease introduced by the invaders, and not being prepared for theFor many centuries the Aztec civilization revolved around aideological, social, and political system in which expansion was thecornerstone. Expansion was the cornerstone of their wholecivilization, because their religion requested that a large number ofhuman sacrifices where to be made to the gods. To get thesacrifices the Aztec went to war with other tribes in Mexico to getthese human sacrifices (Conrad & Demmest 47-49) . With eachconquest more sacrifices and more land was added to the Azteckingdom. The Aztec were a strong civilization who were familiarwith organized large scale war, had specialized war chiefs, and awell organized system of territorial levy in which large armies couldbe amassed in a short time (Age of Reconnaissance 124-125). This decision became a political disaster. They didhave a few muskets, and steal weapons. By looking back on all the problems that these twocivilization had on the eve of the arrival of the Spanish one wouldsay that they destroyed them self and the Spanish was just thereto do a little work and claim the credit for the destruction of theAztecs and Incas. Huascar decided that the royal mummies had to beremoved, because they stood in the way of his reforms and wealth. The government need reforms, and Huascarbelieved that the royal mummies were the center of all theproblems. The system that was setup to chose a emperor. The story's of the wealth that could befound in the America's lured many men looking to get rich quick. While they may not have had the most welltrained men they did have unity and leadership to guide them. These are some of the reason to why Europeans ventured in thisgreat unknown called the Americas. Without expansion theycould no longer give human sacrifices in the same amount in whichthey use too. The Spanish had gunpowder, but couldn'tuse it frequently because most of it was heavy artillery. His assault against theroyal mummies caused the high nobility of the empire to turnagainst him.
