             2. The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge
             1. a) Contemplated love according to Russell is identified as one part of an emotional pole. Russell addresses that in order to attain the good life, one must be inspired by love and knowledge. Thus, contemplation can be expressed as keeping the idea that is brought into the mind for some time actually in view. On the other hand, Russell claims that there's a second emotional pole of love, and that is benevolence. Thus, underlying the disposition to do good, good will, charitableness, love of mankind, accompanied with a desire to elevate their happiness.
             1. b) The example, which substantiates the point made in the second paragraph, exemplifies that role of love and knowledge. That one needs love and knowledge in order to sustain the good life. In other words, one can learn a certain subject such as accounting and gain his knowledge by studying, however remain lonely because he has no one to love or be loved. Thus, creating a sense of knowledge without love. On the other hand, on can be unemployed but married and loved for. Thus creating unhappiness with the thought of love without knowledge. Furthermore, what Russell tries to address, is that one cannot attain happiness without either love or knowledge.
             2. a) Accounting that Russell claims that he cannot prove his view of the good life underlines to the readers that Russell can be confident through his thinking and opinions, however weakens the affect of his argument. The Canadian government disclaims in the court of law that one is accused innocent until proven guilty. This can reflect indirectly to Russell's case. Although he has very positive assumptions and acknowledges different views of the good life, if he cannot prove his arguments - people will choose not to agree with his statements.
