Surviving your first year of college

There are many people, whose first year of college is a nightmare, but it doesn't have to be, with a little planning and organization a students first year of college can be a successful and productive one.The first step to being a successful student and surviving your first year of college is becoming organized, create an organized schedule that will not only allow you to see what you have time for but also allow you to avoid missing important dates and deadlines.Create a study schedule during the first few days of the semester, make up a sheet listing the days and hours of the week fill in your work and class hours first and then designate some study hours. For example make an effort to do about one hour of studying for every class hour and then try working in some social time so your course load won't overw

Instead try a quiet room at home where you know you will not be distracted you can also try the library or computer lab. College is a easily conquered battle as long as you can handle your outside personal problems and organize your time so you can be productive and successful and as an end result work in more study time, social time and personal time leaving you with good grades and an environment where you wont feel isolated and alone. Trying to study in a place where there is a lot of noise and distracting people will not allow you to be focused on what you are studying and leave you unprepared for the exam you are going to have to face. Try to create some positive connections in school don't hide or isolate yourself. The second step to surviving your first year in college is studying, this task may be one of the most important things you can do in your whole college career, and a successful studier is almost always a successful student and ultimately a successful professional in their field. Speak to someone that may strike you as a compatible person, sharing your difficulties and questions with a friendly person on campus can make you feel so much better and not miss home as much which will intern allow you to keep focused on your goal a higher education. Another successful study technique is to take notes on what you are studying when you review the chapter for a test, organize a separate sheet of notes, and write down definitions, examples, lists and main ideas that will allow you to look at an entire chapter in fewer pages and in a way you understand because you wrote it!The third step to surviving college is surviving life when personal issues arise. Sometimes a fight with your parents or financial situations may seem so overwhelming that you may want to just give up, but you have to remember though the storm may get rough joy comes in the morning, you have to sit back, relax and positively asses your situation ask yourself if you are exaggerating small problems and realize that when you drop out of school that serious problem may become not so serious and you will regret having left school.
