Brave New World

             Brave New World is set six hundred years in the future, approximatley at A.F. 632. Af statnds for the years of Ford, named after Henry Ford. Brave New World takes place at the Central London Hatchery and Condidtioning Center, a production factory for human beings. The main characters are the Director, Bernanrd Marx, Helmhotz, Mustapha Mond, Lenina Crowne, Linda, and John Savage. The Director of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre leads the group if students on this wonderful tour. Bernard is the young man who is in love with Lenina. Watson is an alpha plus and a good friend of Bernard. These two men have become outsiders within the society. Mustapha Mond is the controller for Western Europe and one of the ten world controllers. He is in charge of making the rules for the society. Lenina Crowne is a student of this special tour group. Linda is the mother of John and the woman whom the Director brought to the reservation. She is an alcholic. John is the son of the Director and Linda. He is the only one in the group who was not bonr in this utopian society.
             I believe that the major theme of this book is, "Individualism." John Savage is the only one in this book who was not born or raised in this utopia world. Unlike everyone else, John is the only one who has real feelings, he believes in solving things like normal people. He does not understand why Mustapha Mond wants complete control , by telling people that young children are encouraged to play erotic, sexual games. One, who does not play, must see a psychologist. John is alone in this world and needs someone to understand where he is coming from, but everyone just pushes him away.
             Brave New World is set six hundred years into the future.
