Juvenile Casework
The following paper was written with the intent to give an accurate description of the duties performed by Juvenile Case Managers in the Juvenile Justice System. Through my research on the subject matter and an interview with a Juvenile Case Manager Supervisor, I hope to have attained enough credibility to write about this particular topic. I conducted an interview with Ms. Becky Winokur, Case Manager Supervisor at Bucks County Youth Services on November 13, 2001. The interview lasted approximately forty-five minutes, and also consisted of several phone conversations in which Ms. Winokur provided updated information sources relating to her profession. Before presenting the material obtained during the interview, I hope to define the specific duties of a Juvenile Case Manager. The following is a copy of the official job manuscript containing and duties of a Case Manager in her particular company.Youth Services of Bucks County. Inc.The position of the Caseworker shall be filled by action of the Assistant Director or Sight Supervisor, Youth Services of Buck County, Inc.Accountability: The Caseworker shall be accountable to the Project Coordinator or Assis
Winokur holds the position as supervisor. 30) Crime is rising in the urban area of the country. The majority of questions centered on several subject matters including Ms. I have over the last month contemplated the idea of switching my career goal somewhere in the vicinity of social work. If the rehabilitation is not effective, I feel it is a result of a failed upbringing and faulty justice system rather than a motivated individual trying to help. Case Managers that are unsuccessful are most likely hesitant to provide information on the case. 129) Previously, the Juvenile Justice System relied primarily on probation officers to service juvenile youths. 110) Could sexism play an important role in understanding why 66% of all Caseworkers a!re woman? Is there an underlying feeling throughout the Criminal Justice System that woman are naturally more nurturing and open-minded than men, possibly explaining why woman are leading the caseworker profession. Letting the youth know they have a second chance and a friend behind them can go a long way. Their physical features and first impression certainly have an impact on my approach, but again I try to be fair. The crimes committed by Juveniles under her council are usually theft, drugs, underage drinking, assault, disorderly conduct, and students cutting school. Winokur states that her approach to all troubled youths under her guidance is a strict, but fair policy. Winokur, nor would I think about it.
