"It is generally intended to intimidate or coerce a governments, individuals or groups to modify their behavior or policies (The Vice President's Task Force on Combating Terrorism)."(Hunt,2-3) Violence is its main tool in obtaining this change. Terrorists aim at the entire population, which increases their chances of change. Terrorism has become the accepted model for the modern use of force, with terrorists themselves often enjoying more moral credibility than the democratic state they are trying to bring down. With out the linkage to a specific group determined to force political change, an explosion, by definition is not a terrorist act. The popular image of terrorism is of extremist groups trying to rebel or promote their ideologies by blowing up airplanes, buses, government buildings, or taking hostages.
             There are so many terrorist organizations today; it would be hared to name them all. There is a different group for just about every different viewpoint in the world. There is the Armed Islamic Group (GIA), who is attempting to overthrow the Algerian secular regime and start an Islamic state. The National Liberation Army (ELN), of Colombia, who conducted a campaign of mass kidnappings in the 1990's, wishes to replace the current government with a Marxist regime. There is also the Al-Jihad, who wants to overthrow the Egyptian government, and replace it with an Islamic state, by attacking U.S. and Israeli interests in Egypt.
