Cognitive Development Study

The aim of this investigation is to observe and report on a child that attends Calvary Christian College, and asses their relative stage of development as determined by Jean Piaget.
The child being studied in this investigation, CH4, is a preschool student currently attending Calvary Christian College. He is an outgoing child and is quite intelligent.
The subject, CH4, attends Calvary Christian College, a small private school. The school's mission is to provide a distinctly Christian education, to strengthen the family and help prepare students to meet the challenges of life.
             2:2 – PIAGET'S THEORY OF COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Jean Piaget was a famous Swedish psychologist whose studies and theories on cognitive development have had a major impact on child psychology. Piaget suggested that children go through four separate stages in a fixed order that is universal in all children. These stages are:
             1. Sensorimotor.........................................................0-2 years
             2. Preoperational.......................................................2-7 years
             a. Preconceptual...................................................2-4 years
             b. Intuitive..........................................................4-7 years
             3. Concrete Operations...............................................7-11 years
             4. Formal Operations................................................11-15 years
Piaget hypothesised that these stages differ not only in the amount of information acquired in each, but also in the quality of knowledge and understanding at that stage. When a child has been exposed to relevant types of experiences and reached an appropriate level of maturation, he or she progresses to the next stage of development.
