Comparison of two Artist

Comparison of Post-Impressionists and Expressionists One of the great Expressionists who may have been influenced by a Post-Impressionist is Pablo Picasso. He was a great artist in his time and with his unique style he broke many rules that had many people talking. He painted a number of colorful works, but Girl Before A Mirror will be the one I will be comparing to Paul Gauguin's self-portrait. Paul Gauguin and Pablo Picasso had their own styles however; they seemed to have similar ideas in these two paintings. Pablo Picasso painted this girl in front of a mirror, wh

Picasso also uses many geometric in the outlining of the woman's body. Although, Pablo Picasso's painting of Girl In Front Of a Mirror has many geometrics, it looks as if Picasso was a bit influenced by Paul Gauguin. Paul Gauguin's self portrait is a strikingly off center composition Paul gives himself a slight oriental cast to his eyes and also an ironic halo. The painting is just amazing in the creativeness and style. Paul Gauguin influenced Pablo Picasso his off center painting and the vivid colors he uses. Also the symbolism he uses in his painting by the outlining and the ironic halo. Picasso uses vivid colors for example, orange, yellow and green. Her face is spilt in half by two distinct colors and in the outlining of her body it almost looks like the woman is pregnant. Pablo could never be compared to be similar to another painter because he was so unique, but to be the great artist that he was he had to learn something from other great artist. The painting included a wide range of colors and heavy outlining, which gave the painting a stained glass look. Pablo Picasso may have gained some ideas by viewing Paul Gauguin's self-portrait. The background includes sharply outlined apples and a snake that he holds as a cigarette. In the painting Paul Gauguin only paints his face, but not a body we only see a hand and a large outline of yellow paint.
