Tupac: Resurrection
On June 16,1971 Tupac Shakur was born. A Rap star brought to a culture that was just spreading its wings. He jumped right into the pilots seat and made it fly to new and amazing heights. Tupac: Resurrection is a story of the life that is seen by a visionary. Put together by the events that rattled a young mans life and breaking grounds of a new cultural movement. The documentary shows how one man set out to change the game. The life of a fallen star, told by Tupac himself.Tupac: Resurrection, directed by Lauren Lazin, was released November 14,2003. With an "R" rating, this film is filled with many songs that were never released, photographs from his child to adulthood, home movies, and a few selections of his poetry. This film is in the reporter style because it is someone just telling a story. The film follows the use of voice-overs, along with background music, interviews and Nat. sound. The film also chronicles Tupac's life from childhood to his unfourtunate death.Born in Brooklyn, New York to Afeni Shakur, whom was released from jail a month before he was born, and William Garland, Tupac was given the birth name Lesane Parish Crooks, which was soon changed to Tupac Amaru Shakur after an Inca Indian revolutionary.
Tupac played Bishop, a gangster who decives his friends and tries to lead them in the wrong direction, a part that Tupac never played before but knew a lot about. Tupac always expressed a love for acting, and writing poetry and love songs. Afeni Shakur got caught in the drug game and addicted to crack cocaine. Here he began acting up and hanging out with the wrong people. After recovering from an accident that could have been fatal Tupac began to look at death with no fear and released another album "Me Against the World". The documentary ends with Tupac saying how he knew that he would he shot to death and fades with one of the songs he produced that was released after his death. During this time there was a great lyrical battle between Tupac and former friend Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace). Tupac enrolled into The Baltimore School for Performing Arts where he studied ballet and acting. Jail didn't stop Tupac, instead it inspired him. Amongst the East Coast and West Coast controversy Tupac signed a record deal with Suge Knight and Dr. After the fight while driving off gunshots were fired by an unknown attacker hitting Tupac a numerous amount of times. Although, Afeni was a head leader of the Black Panthers and a wonderful mother she just couldn't teach her son what it takes to be a man, so he suffered a great deal.
