Creative Time Management by Barkas

Do you find yourself constantly preoccupied with too many things to do so you end up with many unfinished projects? Creative Time Management by J.L. Barkas is a very beneficial book when it comes to learning how to manage your time more efficiently so that one can still enjoy the more pleasurable things in life. Creative Time Management shows how to manage personal and work time, the obstacles to effective time management, how to become organized and more effective, how to improve your time at work, how to save time on household chores, how to improve your personal time management, and how time management works.

The first chapter shows how to manage your personal and work time. Barkas uses the “ABC Approach” to show how to manage your time effectively. “A” is knowing what you’ve got which means knowing what your current work and personal responsibilities are. “B” is knowing what you want which means having specific daily and long-term goals. “C” is using “A” and “B” so you get what you want which means that you apply the questions of who, what, where, when, why, and how to your thoughts and actions. Another way to manage you personal and work time is to set goals. If you don’t know what goals you need

The final aspect of saving time around the house is food. For example instead of calling someone back the same day you could call them the next day if the call is not of great importance. Another way to help organize yourself is to sharpen your decision-making skills and distinguishing daily priorities from busywork. There are four categories to the subject of food; they are preparation, shopping, storage, and cleanup. The next “time waster” is the inability to say “no”. Managing your time wisely takes using your energy highs and lows. The first topic of personal time management is recreation. Another way to improve your time at work is to have the ability to work well with others. The next part of saving time deals with household maintenance. Most people have a certain time during the day when they become tired and run down. Barkas believes that complaining not only wastes your time, but also creates a poor image of what you are like.

The next section deals with becoming organized and more effective. To cope with this postprandial dip is to exercise or do something physical to keep your energy level up until the postprandial dip bypasses. There should always be time for your children. To save time it is recommended that you take care of these types of things in a way that you accomplish the similar tasks around the same time instead of going back and forth.
