Steroid use in professional sports

One of the many popular reasons for disqualifications in any sport is the use of steroids, or performance enhancers. Many athletes have in the past been disqualified from a game or race for that simple reason. Using steroids when playing a professional sport is just plain wrong. Many athletes are endangering their health every time they use steroids. An excellent example of steroids being a life-threatening factor is Lyle Alzado. In addition to tarnishing a team or player's competitive integrity, the use of steroids produces a great health risk. Using steroids greatly threatens the credibility of the game as well as the team and can lead to bigger problems such as disqualification. When the words "steroids" and "professional sports" are contained in the same sentence, the same two-pronged concerns are heard repeated time and again: athletes are endangering their health as well as tarnishing the team or their own competitive integrity. Their possibility of contracting cancer, increasing their blood pressure, and elevating their cholesterol levels are amplified. ir performance while the other athletes are competing with their own given abilities, no drugs involved. Alzado was the former defensive standout for the Oakland Raiders who is now the most famous athlete to suffer from a premature death as a consequence of steroid use. In the end, even with these known risks to their health, athletes continue to put this dangerous substance into their bodies and prolong the endangerment of their live. The initial cause of his death was due to brain cancer, which respectively stemmed from his use of steroids.
