Education Philosophy

             My education philosophy of teaching is meeting the needs of children as an individual. Making sure that the class is well equipped with everything the child needs to grow. Making the whole classroom accessible to the individual child, having no restrictions from the learning process.
             I believe that children learn hands-on. Through play they learn how to think, work through and solve problems, work with other children while being able to grow in the learning stages. I would structure my program hi-scope. Having centers will definitely give them that hands-on experience that my philosophy speaks of. The environment will be conducive to the children's play and exploration. I would be considered an constructivist like John Dewey, Jean Piaget and Vygotsky. For example having a block, science, sand and water, language arts, music, manipulative, dramatic play, library, creative arts, and cognitivemath center will allow the children to learn hands on. In the block center the materials would be blocks, cars, people and themed items, science materials are plants, rocks, seashells, microscopes, and themed projects, sand and water materials are sand, water, pail, shovels, baking/cooking utensils, toy trucks/cars and themed items, language art materials are felt boards, story books, felt pieces to follow along with story and themed items, music materials are head phones, record/tape player, tapes, cd's, records, variety of musical instruments and themed items, manipulative materials for (gross/fine motor skills) balls for throwing, catching, squeezing, reaching, bouncing, striking, kicking, holding, scissors for grasping, cutting, play dough legos, and themed items, dramatic play materials are women/men clothing, shoes, ties, hats, fire/police hat, mirrors and themed items, Library materials are comfy soft chairs, and diverse books, creative art materials are crayons, paints, construction paper, glue, big
