Racial Profiling
Racial profiling occurs everyday, but is it needed? September 11 raised this type of investigation to begin again. The attacks made most Caucasian-Americans to profile most people of Arab descent as terrorist . As Michelle Alexander of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Northern California states "Prior to September 11, 80 percent of Americans opposed racial profiling. Since that day, there has been an immediate reversal of public opinion. Polls now show that 70 percent of Americans believe that some form of racial profiling is necessary, and acceptable, to ensure public safety." So the real question here is, is racial profiling right to do? I believe that is very important that we do practice this even though sometimes relinquishing civil liberties. His intentions were are pretty much spelled out: he was planning a terrorist attack. , attempted to ship loads of weaponry and ammunition over the Detroit-Canadian border to their eventual destination, the Hezbollah terrorist cell in Lebanon. We must protect our country even if sometimes people of our country have to be inconvenienced. First of all, Detroit is the home to the highest concentration of Arab-Americans, and for that matter the highest concentration of Arabs outside the Middle East .
