             Wal-Mart malls and big sky scrapers that are starting to take over land that used to be loved by the farmers who harvested produce from its dirt are spreading over the once gorgeous fields of America. Land that used to harbor cows, and horses that has now been massacred for the modern day civilization. It is inevitable for a society to undergo change as it passes through time. You are surrounded by evidence of constant modernization of a society. Change is constantly being witnessed in our society that results in modernizing, and which then leads to personalizing our suburban areas. The personalization occurs from the city coming in and making our suburban areas modernize and grow. Modernizing and personalizing our small neighborhoods and communities, have also produced the change in the ideas and views that we have on diversity.
             The essay, The Triumph of Burbopolis, tells about the suburbs and how this area has always been a very white community. And as the suburbs progressed in time this area developed a modernized look on diversity. This essay is about the author, Michael Pollan, traveling back to his childhood home in the suburbs. He is amazed on how much the suburbs have modernized to look like the city and how much it has grown in other cultures. Michael Pollan ends up reminiscing about his childhood days of him and his friends romping and "committing petty larceny" in the nearby pumpkin field, which has now sprouted big blocky buildings. He realizes how much the suburbs have been modernized and personalized to the city. Michael Pollan finds it hard to locate where his old home is and becomes astonished by how much the culture has changed in the suburban area. Many different ethnic groups have moved into this area. They have been continually adding their cultures and traditions to personalize the suburban area.
