Does Violence in the Media really effect Youths?

Television influences the general media everyday. Shows and commercials range in influencing what people should eat for breakfast in the morning, to what they wear at night. Their goal is to show something in some attractive way so that it takes public interest. They do this by flashing pictures across the screen that take only seconds to remember in the sub-conscious. Violence in the media has become a giant issue, for people believe that it has a distinct effect on America's youths. I feel these people are right, and while television should not be censored for reasons following, parents should instead be forced or taught to recognize the things their children watch on T.V. In this document I will illustrate the positive and negative effects of media violence, how children respond to growing up in different environments, and the traits that kids might inherit before they even watch a single violent show. Violence in America has had so much history behind it. Following are various suggestions to the dominate cause of violence in American society today, ranging from things as big as the gold rush to the discovery of the "aggression gene," that which originated centuries ago and carried on through generations. Whichever th

Children are influenced by everything on television whether positive or negative, and we cannot dwell on the fact that a permanent T. To go on and imagine that there are no dysfunctional families in which one of the parents is overly abusive, how else can children be influenced by violence? A lack of one parent (specifically the father) is a main reason for a child growing up to be unmanageable, for without a father to look up to, a male is forced to go by his instincts and act without a conscious, which typically results in something bad. We can only imagine what that number would be if applied to satellite viewing. " If this were true then the same would apply to sexual harassment, sexism, and feminism. One of the most violent times in American history occurred during the gold rush. I feel this is the parent's fault once again, for they most likely do not even know the type of music their children listen to. One could even go on to prove how the banning of such items has produced no such positive effect. I wouldn't be surprised if they did actually start rating every single "major" television program, so that parents would at least be able to change the channel if they didn't want their ten-year-old child watching a "PG-13" sitcom. Countries where no sexual imagery or western music is permitted (i. While these statements are not surprising, they certainly should be eye opening, for things should not be like this. Testosterone causes deeper voices, hairier bodies, and increased aggressiveness and impulsiveness. Many parents who would never let their children even witness a gun eventually gave in, for the media sold the fact that we were the ones who were suffering, and needed to get back. Children who grow up without a parent or both parents, or have parents, who have separated, are definitely more prone to violent crime. This shows how it would take so much extra time, effort, and workers to develop a sound rating system for every channel produced on cable. "Vote to censor television for the sake of your children!!"), more and more follow until there are ridiculous amounts of people protesting for some issue they may have never really worried about.
