The Brain

"I just won tickets to the John Mayer concert." With emotion, this statement will appeal to a right-brained person more but will also grab the attention of a left-brained; however, if said normally, only a left-brained person will be interested. When looking at the hemispheres of a brain, many interesting things can come out of it. From studying the right and left brain, I have learned what each side is about, which side of the brain is more dominant in my own body, and how this information will affect me in the future.
By reading many interesting articles and hearing presentations, I have collected a pretty good amount of knowledge on the brain and its actions. The right side of the brain tends to be more creative and visual and controls the movements on the left side of the body. They have a good imagination, gut feelings and tend to look at the big picture of things. The left brain is more verbal and detail-oriented. They are logical, remember the past well, like rules, and form strategies. As far as students go, right-brained kids love to work in group activities, do artsy and creative projects, and learn through visual instead of verbal lessons. The left-brained students like to work and read independently, prefer quiet classrooms, are perfectionists, and love to learn through lectures. Middle-brained students, which tend to be more of today because of teaching methods, can easily learn in both. However, middle-brained people tend to be indecisive. When deciding college majors, many people tend to major towards what side of the brain they are. For instance, right-brained like to major in art, education, law, and nursing, whereas the left like science, engineering, business, and math. In a workplace, right-brained employees are the creative, laid-back ones. These people tend to drive the left-brained crazy because left-sided people are on time, problem-solving, and leading people.
