History of marriage
"In a great many civilizations, at least until present era, marriages were arranged in the interests of kinship networks, not at the whim of lovers"(Adrian Brune)Procreation, the goal nature wants to achieve with this union, is the basic factor and the only reason, which has transformed co-habitation into marriage, and raised it from mere carnal relation to a durable union. The reality of the sexual relation between a man and women is most obviously established by human, or even, animal nature. In the animal world, it is seen that two species join together to raise offspring by giving it shelter food and protection. In doing this it is necessary that the male and female cooperate together, usually the male provides the protection, and the females provides the shelter and food, also seen as nurture which is essential in the life cycle. In the animal world, the male and female sometimes split after the offspring is ready to be on its own, but as humans, the male and female usually stay together, and engage in marriage. In relation to the animal world, it is quite possible to say that humans are not much different, humans just give a name to this process called matrimony. The real rational for this marriage process is the i
Not saying that same sex marriage is completely wrong, it is possible for them to raise a child and provide shelter and protection for that child, but in the end they must always rely on someone else to have that child and they take custody of him/her. Should marriage be limited to the traditional male and female bond, or can a same sex marriage survive today's society. Anthropologist across the country seem to disagree with him and the American Anthropological Association gave him failing marks on his understanding of world societies and criticized his proposed ban on same sex marriage. Now kinship does not affect society as much as it did in the past. These views go back to the beginning and the natural way, in which marriage is not essential to carry out the cycle of life. Although in today's society, marriage to the child, is seen as a "form of identity and security". It is not confined to the heterosexual binds of the past. This is what culture has made marriage to be, it is normal for the child to have a married mother and father, otherwise, society sees the child to be at a disadvantage. When a member of one tribe would "marry" someone else from another tribe, these two tribes would be come allies or affiliates, often helping in the advance of the society. A male and female can produce a child raise it without marriage. By the word enemies, it is meant cultural enemies and not personal enemies. He states that it is one of the "most fundamental, enduring institutions of our civilization". Marriage in the old days did not exist as a single male and female bond. So even back then marriage, was seen mainly as adding to the community, or helping in the well being of others, not about love. A same sex marriage, which goes on without children or offspring, would be the most unfit companionship.
