Class hours were mainly devoted to attacking sentences containing complex grammatical patterns, identifying which parts of the sentence express specific details supporting the main idea. Opportunities for practicing the authentic use of English are few and far between. To help the students develop strategies to decode meanings from the written texts, supplementary materials about reading skills are incorporated into the lesson. Everyday teaching practice is conducted on a trial basis. Generally speaking, to tap the individual students' potential to full advantage or center around the CET requirements has long been a matter of controversy. , which consist of a varied diet of passages followed by comprehension questions.
