CARS OF TODAY COMPARED TO THOSE OF THE 1970'S New cars are completely different than the cars that came off the production line during the 1970's. First , 1970's model cars were very large in size and newer model cars are relatively small. Second , those big old cars had to have bigger and stronger motors to make them efficient while driving and newer cars concentrate on smaller motors for better gas mileage. Since the 1970 model cars were big and heavy they had to Page Two have bigger engines . Because consumers wanted a cheap , large , and powerful car the manufactories didn't offer many other options. While newer cars are in most cases are better designed and built than the 1970's model and they are a lot more expensive. Meanwhile today's cars are on average 75 cubic inches smaller on the interior and considerably smaller on the outside. The big old tanks of the 1970's usually had the larger motors like a V-8. The cars were built to have a lot of interior space and were built large on outside for a comfortable and controllable driving experience. Today's car motors are better designed and engineered and are much more efficient. Because of poor technology in the 1970's , the manufactories had to over compensate power on their cars for performance. The new cars are just as comfortable and controllable as the 1970's due to better technology and design. Since new cars are engineered for many extras and as luxurious as possible , they often are much more expensive. Keeping the over all cost down on the cars made it less expensive to buy . They were very powerful but very costly for operation because of the poor fuel efficiency. Newer cars generally have smaller less powerful engines such as a V-6 or 4-cylinders .
