The History of the Ferrari

             The Sports Car a universal symbol of poise, dignity and status. The Ferrari a symbol in itself, a highly coveted and sought-after car. This specific sport's car speaks of status. The Ferrari has long been sought after because of its ability to quench the eve-spreading need for speed. Ferrari's are important in the history of travel because they helped shape other automobiles and because of the worldwide recognition. Today, I will tell you about the history of the car and its emblem, I will also tell you how the company is still moving!
             Enzo Ferrari the inventor of the Ferrari was born on February 18, 1898 near Modena, Italy. Enzo developed a need for speed at the age of ten when his father took him to a race near Bologna. After attending several of the races, Enzo decided he wanted to be a racecar driver.
             While Enzo was employed at a carmaker and surplus store he realized his dream of racecar driving. In 1919, he finished ninth at the Targa Florio. Enzo got a job with Alfa Romeo and began racing a modified production car. In the 1920's Targa Florio, he managed to finish second. Enzo Ferrari moved all around Italy racing production cars. He traveled all over to earn a reputation.
             In 1923, while racing at the Circuit of Sivocci at Ravenna he was approached by Count Enrico and Countess Paolina Baracca, the parents of the heroic Italian pilot Francesco Baracca. His parents gave Ferrari their son's squadron badge, which was the famous prancing horse on a yellow shield.
             In 1940, Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo and started a new company, Auto-Avio Costruzioni Ferrari. During World War II, the Ferrari workshop moved from Modena to Maranello. The new workshop was soon a victim of the war and it was leveled. A year after the war in 1946, the shop was rebuilt. Work began on the first ever Ferrari motorcar, the 125 Sport.
