As we go through life we constantly look for direction, we strive for that guiding light on our paths, and the happiness we know exists in the world. Some people look toward God for this light, but others find it in the people who surround them. These people acts as a source of wisdom, a shoulder to cry on, a place to vent your inner most feelings. For Michael, this person was Pedro. Pedro came into Michael's life at a time where he needed exactly such a person. In my life, that person is my Father. Not unlike the relationship that Pedro and Michael share, our bond was realized while going for a stroll. Walking the streets of the city proved as the setting for the insightful conversations that Pedro and Michael would have, and for us, the seemingly never ending shores of the Ocean. These type relationships are not often found in life, and when they are they let us know that we are not alone in the often lonely world. That's a feeling that keeps you going not only through the good, but the bad times as well.
When it comes to my life, my Father is my rock. He provides not only someone to talk to, but someone to look up to. Much like Pedro, he sits and listens, which is often hard to find in a person. Our conversations didn't take place at night with the city as the backdrop, but instead the beach. My Father and I would go to the beach every day of the summer when I was growing up. We would take long walks along the shore, and he would lecture me about life, giving me tips, letting me in on life's secrets, and most importantly making me question the world around me. Not always did he answer the many questions that I would ask him, instead he would make me answer my own questions. He would drag the wisdom out of me, much like Pedro does with Michael.
