In management; is there a best managerial style?
In today's changing technology, and global trade, managers must be willing to abandone traditional ways of making business to new and enhanced skills in order to be successful in a competitive world. These chalenges have an important role for the leaders. In other words, the efficiency of progressing knowledge forces some modifications in the way we conduct business. It is up to the leaders or organization to choose which side they wish to be, the leading edge or the trailing edge.Thus, it requires power, control, management, guidence... in one words; it requires leadership. There are several diverse leadership styles that are well-known within the management technique. Each style has its own good and bad characteristics. Also, each one of these techniques exercises leadership in a special way.However, the role of leadership in management is chosen by two things that are of important significance; the managers' values, ethics and morals, because leadership is the influence by one person over another; therefore the quality of control and guidance by the managers is an important factor of the businesse`s success. Secondly, the selected style of leadership is determined by the organisational culture of the company
(Page 207) Basically, this definition says that a leader has the aptitude to get work done through others, while at the same time winning their respect, confidence, and reliability. The motivation atmosphere is created by rewards and punishments. This style gives to the employees more power and it creates an environment of trust that they respond with team spirit, collaboration, and high morale. While there is no agreed and scientific list of what makes a good leader, it is agreed that they tend to have the following personalities; here is a list of qualities that make a good leader: Leaders influence many aspects of work, they: * are the head talker of the group, (Self confidence and good communications skills. This paper will briefly define the three leadership styles, (Autocratic, Democratic, and Free-Rein) and illustrate the situations in which each one is best suited. Like the other style (autocrat), the democratic style is not always appropriate. However some individuals have some talents that predispose to become a good leader. The main disadvantage of this style is that it makes employees feel insecure at the unavailability of a manager. It therefore may be useful in situations that test a firm's effectiveness as a time-based competitor. Sharing of inputs by the workers to the managers can lead to better descision making.
