Court
On the 23rd of February 2004, I went to Fulton Country North Court. The place was hard to find because there was no large sign that was easy to see; However, I managed to find it at around 8.10 am. As I entered the building, I had no problem finding the courtroom because the courtroom number was shown at the entrance of the building and there were signs to guide me to the courtroom. I have observed that there are two types of court: traffic court and magistrate court. I managed o watch several court cases. The traffic court case that I paid close attention to was Wibawa case, where he was caught by police driving without a license and an expired car tag. Then I moved on to the magistrate court case, where there was Fresh Solution v Computer Digital Service, Pearlman v Betty, Juhen v Cingular, Peter v Robert Salomon and Jones v Ford car dealer case. I arrived at the traffic court and I was unimpressed with the delay of the court because according to the schedule the court was supposed to start at 8 am but it was delayed for about 30 min. I was thinking that there were many cases that the judge have to hear and time is very limited to finish all the cases. As I entered the room, the room was so quiet; it s
When he received the first bill, it said he had to pay $191. Juhen was unable to win the case because he did not make a payment towards the $441. I looked at the people around me; they felt so tense waiting for decisions on their cases. The judge asked defendant if he has any question to the opposer. His case was that he was caught driving without a license and an expired tag. He was very unhappy with the bill and he wanted to sue Cingular for the mistake in billing. The final decision of the court was that the car dealer had to return the $500 service agreement with no other compensation. He asked," Did you make a payment towards the $441?" The opposer said, "no. Wibawa was using a lawyer in his case. I assumed that it was a big case because no one normally will use a lawyer for a speeding ticket. Sometimes I do not understand the words that are often used in court but from this research I have improved my understanding. The magistrate court is smaller than the traffic court; it might fit about 20 people. The judge turned the case over to the prosecutor.
