Driving Age
Can you imagine one of your relatives or someone close to you suddenly passes away? There is no question that sudden deaths are one of the worst things that people can ever experience. People may, with a blink of an eye, lose their lives drowning, suffocating, or even play any sport game. Yet car accidents tend to be the most common of all sudden deaths. They took the lives of many people over the years, worldwide. Last month, in the first days of Ramadan, I attended the funeral of my 17 years old best friend, Mohammad, who passed away after a tragic car accident. We used to be close friends for a long time and we even went to high school together too. His friend Khalid was riding in the back seat of a car with two other boys Saturday evening on their way to a football game. They were all wearing seat belts. The three friends were all injured, but my best friend was the only victim in the accident. They were running late to catch the game and started speeding. They hit a bump, lost control of the car, hit a parked truck, flipped over, the roof of the car came off, and the rest was awful. It is such a shame. I start crying whenever I think about the fact that Mohammad, such a good guy is gone. It is almost impossibl
Is an eighteen-year-old teenager mentally able to handle the responsibilities of being a motorist? Many would say no, an eighteen-year-old is not capable of handling the responsibilities of driving a vehicle. These situations require a more developed mind, which most under twenty-two do not have. It does not matter which age a person has to be issued a driver's license. (1998) "The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which analyzed fatal accident reports between 1975 and 1996, reported that the death rate for 18-year-olds nearly doubled, from 19 per 100,000 licensed drivers in 1975 to 35 per 100,000 in 1996. Some people, especially teenagers, think that the legal driving age should remain the same because of many reasons. There are some teens that actually have goals in life and actually have serious intentions of meeting them. I have heard that in some countries they have moved the legal driving age up to 21, at which many think the mind is much mature. I do not think teens are mature enough to drive, especially boys. Well, if a teenager has waited 18 years to get his or her driving license, can not he or she wait three more years? I think it is better to wait three more years than to be killed in a car accident. A major part of the brain that is developing is the part that deals with judgment. I did a lot of stunts that almost got me and my friends killed because I wanted to drive as fast as my car could go. Currently, teens can get a driver's permit at 18. By rising the age to twenty-one, more time will be allowed for younger drivers to mentally mature. Now, I am twenty years old and I remembered how dump I was.
