Why People Abuse Illegal Drugs

There are many people who use illegal substances and think that doing so is harmless fun. However, there are many reasons why people use illegal substances and many consequences to using as well. Most of the causes for illegal drug using are commonly known. Teenagers enjoy taking risks with drugs because of the thrill of doing so brings. They also want to feel independent and forget about their parents' rules. Curiosity is a component because teens want to experiment. Peer influence is probably the biggest factor concerning teens and drugs because it is easier to say "okay" to risking drugs, than to say no and appear not cool. People abuse drugs to get high and to feel the effects the different drugs bring about. Signs of drug exploitation are recognizable in a substance abuser. According to Street Drugs, the indications of narcotics are "lethargy, drowsiness, euphoria, nausea, constipation, constricted pupils, and slowed breathing."
