The godfather

"I'll make him an offer he can't refuse", articulated Don Vito Corleone in his famous raspy and warm voice. The Godfather is not only considered a classic of film history, but rather one of the greatest motion pictures of all time. This epic manifestation of fascinating design, characters, and powerful themes all contributed to what is now known as one of the greatest film in history. The film was based on a popular but not bestselling novel written by Mario Puzo, and was directed by the rather unknown and inexperienced director at the time Francis Ford Coppola. The casting of actors was also weak, as most of them were not known before the film. This movie, despite the odds that it would not be a successful film at all, became a monstrous hit. Filming at a mere budget of only $6,000,000 it grossed $244,900,000 (Worldwide). Two sequels would follow The Godfather, The Godfather Part Two and The Godfather Part Three which are now known as The Godfather Trilogy. Design was a dominant element in The Godfather. The first scene in the movie overloaded with Design. The scene showed only the two faces of the men, the face of Don Vito and the man requesting justice. The godfather was represented as a king compared to the weak man aski

They felt respect was crucial for their business. They believed in respect and legitimacy, they did not pursue the narcotics which promised wealth, simply because they felt it was incorrect. That showed us that business truly is a separate part of Vito's life, the contrast of the two sets (dark and gloomy compared to bright, colorful and joyful) established to the audience that business cannot interfere with personal life through the element of design. The camera provided a low angle on the men and a high angle on Sonny, establishing the reality of the situation; the once powerful and feared sonny is now a mere powerless man being shot down due to his flawed way of thinking. Although the reality of the situation is that all these men are horrible, ruthless murderers the audience can't help but think of Michael, or Vito as the protagonist, or the 'good guys' of the story. Evil is another theme which is well incorporated into this film. All that led him to what would be a gruesome and powerful scene of his death, being shot countless times by a mob of angry men. The most astonishing character was Don Vito Corleone. It was that one night where Michael made a choice, kill the corrupted police chief and Sollozo responsible for the assassination attempt on his father. Santino 'Sonny' Corleone was the eldest of the three sons, and naturally took over the family business after Vito was shot. One element which played a crucial role in contributing to The Godfather's success was flawlessly created characters. The room is dark and completely isolated from the events which are going on, which at the time was Vito's daughter's wedding. Sollozo and the other Dons are made to be thought of as the evil ones.
