Gladiator
A man robbed of his name and his dignity strives to win them back, and gain the freedom of his people, in the epic historical drama from director Ridley Scott. In the year 180, the death of emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) throws the Roman Empire into chaos. Maximus (Russell Crowe), one of the Roman army's most capable and trusted generals and a key advisor to the emperor, is stripped of his rank and sold into slavery, as Marcus' devious son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) ascends to the throne. Renamed Narcissus and forced to become a gladiator, Maximus must
battle to the death with other men for the amusement of the Roman people. It has the fight scenes just like other events. Loyalty, honor, love, revenge, betrayal, and heroes, this is the movie for you. They could have spend a little more time on Maximus family. When Maximus said "I'm husband to a murdered wife, father to a murdered son and I will have my vengeance in this life or the next. The best scene is when Commodus wanted Maximus to take off the mask and show himself. What makes Gladiator unique is that, it takes you and make you feel the characters feelings. Just about every events has a hero and a bad guy. If you like blood and fighting, this is your movie. Gladiator is also unique because they had the right actors for the characters. You could feel Marcus Aurelius pain as a father, you could feel Commodus madness and pain as Marcus Aurelius' son, and you could feel Maximus pain for his family and his vengeance towards Commodus. That was a powerful scene and it set the movie off. I recommend this movie to whoever like a good drama action movie.
