Telemarketing

             Ring.... Ring...It's 7:30 PM, it's dinner time, do you know where everyone is? You may not know where your entire family is, but Telemarketers are pretty certain that they will be able to find you, whether the timing is convenient or not. In today's new day and age, the fight to gain customers is becoming more and more important every day. One of the most efficient ways to gain new customers has been through the use of telemarketing to target specific individuals. We believe that Telemarketing is used through means deemed ethical, and we plan on demonstrating this through a number of prime examples.
             In order to determine whether Telemarketing is ethical on a whole, we must take a look at it from a few different ethical perspectives. The first perspective we will look through is that of Aristotle, and the application of his Golden Mean. Our second application deals with the ethical principles of Brian Spinoza, and how his principles can show which avenues of telemarketing could be deemed unethical. By viewing an unethical situation in regards to telemarketing, we are able to grasp how telemarketing should be used. Next we have the principles of John Stuart Mill and utilitarianism, which support our argument that telemarketing is actually beneficial to society. We will also discuss the need for the application of objectivism in this study, and how it shows that telemarketing is useful. Lastly, we present facts that show how a few bad seeds may exist within telemarketing, and how these aspects do not exactly designate telemarketing as an unethical issue. We feel confident that by the end of our report on the relevant ethical issues of telemarketing, you, the reader, will undoubtedly agree with us on the use of telemarketing's ethical practicality.
