The Talk at the Eiffel Tower
Hi my name is Charlie and I am a Jew. Your probably wondering why I told you my religion but you'll understand later on in the story. I wanted to tell you about an awesome experience that I had while I was in Paris. It has to do with some guys that I hadn't met and I while we rode our way up the Eiffel tower. It's a pretty interesting story and I just really thought that people would like what we had discussed. It all started when I walked into the elevator to go up the Eiffel tower. There were three other guys in the elevator with me. It had been my first time seeing the Eiffel tower so I decided to kind of make conversation with the guys so that I wouldn't be so nervous. So I said, "Nice View isn't it?" Being all sarcastic because there weren't any windows in the elevator (I wondered why there wasn't windows, I guess they want you to wait to see the view). The three men laughed. One guy said that he had never been to the top of the Eiffel tower and all of the other guys said that they hadn't either. "My name's Charlie." As I held out my hand. The men shook my hand saying their names, Sid, Matt and Henry. Sid and Henry were dressed very vibrantly in robes that looked to me that they were made of gold. So I asked, "What are
you?" They laughed and Sid said, " well I am human I don't know about Henry though. I hope to see all of them again sometime. " So Sid asked me, " How much is there to know about being Jewish?" I answered; " Well Jesus was Jewish and so were the people who killed him. " We were all tired out from our conversation we felt like we needed to be done for the day. " Varnas are social classes; there are four varnas. The Jews thought that Jesus was endangering everyone. We all walked around and Sid was the first one to discuss his religion out of Henry and him. With the eightfold path a person could attain nirvana, a state of freedom from the cycle of rebirth. I told Henry and Sid that in school I had learned about Buddhist and Hindu society and I just kind of figured that they were about the same. " "Don't Buddhist's meditate?" I asked. The creator of the world is Brahma, Vishnu is the preserver and Siva is the destroyer. "We also believe in dharma, which are our duties in life. " " I know that but what kinds of things do Jewish people do differently then Christians, and Hindus, and Buddhist?" Asked Sid.
