Chrysalids

             In John Wyndham's novel, The Chrysalids, he stresses the theme of the novel through change.
             The Chrysalids expresses its theme of change through the title of the novel, through the main
             character, David, and the escape, in the end. The situations and the definition of chrysalids are
             very well used to back up the title. David's life through out the novel goes through many stages.
             His life is the best value to relate to the theme, change. Realization comes in quite well to support
             the escape. Wyndham reveals the theme in a way to understand the novel.
             The title of the novel is endorsed strongly towards the theme. The word chrysalids comes from
             the word "chrysalis." This word means, a protected stage of development. An example would be, when
             a caterpillar covers itself, forming a cocoon. In that stage the caterpillar slowly forms and finally bursts
             out into a winged adult. There is always a start to everything to form something new. In this novel
             there is always a start, but the finished product was not constantly a success. Just like a caterpillar, it
             may begin to form incorrectly. The aftereffect will become peculiar. The novel also attaints to live
             life step by step or stage by stage, to complete fluent outcome. Although the meaning of the
             title is not mentioned in novel, it is very well described to comprehend the theme.
             David, the main character goes through the most change in the novel. He begins with the
             abnormality of being telepathic. He does not mention that he is telepathic to his parents. As he grows
             he has come to open his eyes and see reality. In chapter one, David meets a girl named, Sophie. She is
             no ordinary girl. She has something that no normal human would have; six toes. David is now realizing
             that there are sacrifices in life that are really difficult, risky, yet very dangerous. Also he starts to
