Who Has Influenced My Career Choice?Choosing a career may not always be easy but I am lucky to have been influenced by someone very special in my life. My dad has always been encouraging and supportive of my choices. His compassion for animals, tame or wild, has helped me to make a career choice in animal sciences and I hope someday to study veterinary medicine.What I most admire about my dad is that he always works hard and is enthusiastic about everything he does. However, as sometimes happens, the dog we got was not exactly perfect. He had food allergies and aggression issues. We all learned a lot about animal health including different veterinary tests, drugs and diets. The porcupine got a ride back to the country. My dad encouraged me to volunteer at an emergency animal hospital to see if working with animals was something that I might enjoy. I saw many instances of caring for small creatures. Now he is a happy dog that eats a special veterinary diet. One summer we had a porcupine in our yard in the city. No matter if we are in the country or city, he is always excited to see animals. He went to great lengths to pick the perfect breeder and perfect dog. This can be anything from a bald eagle, a black bear in the mountains or a dog going for a walk. My dad's appreciation of nature and his love of learning are qualities that I admire. I discovered many areas of animal care. My dad phoned experts to see how he could get the porcupine back to the wild. My dad was always excited to hear my stories of animal rescue.
