"Automobiles: A 'Driving' Necessity"

The technology used in the production of the automobile has had a negative "domino chain effect" on society. The automobile has been one of the greatest inventions in the last 100 years. It has helped the United States grow in ways never imagined before. It has allowed people to move out of highly congested cities and into more peaceful neighborhoods. However, the negative effects of the automobile, which were overlooked in those days, are of serious concern in present times. The introduction of the automobile has had positive effects on the American culture. Since automobiles were first introduced in the early 1900's, Americans have grown considerably dependent upon them. At the domestic level, mothers have relied upon automobiles to run errands, transport their children to and from school and travel to extra curricular events. At the business level, entrepreneurs have relied upon automobiles to transport themselves to and from work and, when required, to travel to conduct other business transactions. Teenagers have also become dependent upon automobiles to participate in academic, extra curricular, work, and social events and activities. The automobile has had a major impact on economic aspects of the American culture.

Automobile accidents are far more instrumental in accounting for deaths within American society than most types of war. Automotive exhaust is the leading source of hazardous air pollution in the United States. Automobiles also negatively affect the environment. Consider that the automobile has been directly responsible for injuring 250 million, nearly equivalent to the current population of the U. Wells and refineries all over the world extract petroleum resources. According to computer-generated models, that temperature average has gradually risen over the years in the last century (EPA). The air gets polluted the worst while people warm up their cars and during the first couple miles of travel. As the demand for automobiles remains consistent, automobile exhausts, called emissions, continue to pollute the atmosphere. In order to understand the role the automobile industry has played in American way of life, it is necessary to first consider the geographical disposition of the American working class, particularly in light of its effect on mobility. Between 10 to 45 percent of those injured later experience post-traumatic stress disorder. The first automobile advertised for public sale was the Duryea Motor Wagon in 1896. Accidents cause seriously bodily injury, psychological distress and sometimes even death. Today, the automobile creates background noise and clouds of pollution in all metropolitan areas, affecting sleep, concentration, and intelligence. In the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, The Mexican War, and the Spanish-American War combined only 22,424 people lost their lives.
