Goals
Although there are many goals that I would like to achieve as a University of Phoenix student, I have successfully narrowed it down to the following four main goals on which I will concentrate my efforts: Maintain the motivation necessary in order to earn my degree, become a more valuable employee at work, become a more effective and assertive team member, and to enjoy myself and have a good time while I learn. The sense of accomplishment I will feel as a result of meeting my personal goals along the path will give me the motivation I need to continue until I earn my degree. Setting realistic goals is important as a student, as it will aid in keeping me focused and on the correct path to success. The third goal I want to achieve is to become effective and assertive as a member of my learning team. I have limited experience in working on projects in teams, as the majority of my current job involves individual work. The classes I took for my associate's degree at Chemeketa Community College required very few team projects. In addition, I tend to be an agreeable person, and will need to work on the skills necessary
Once I gain the knowledge and skills, my goal will evolve into learning how to apply what I have learned. There are several ideas I can extract from Chapter Six in Keys to College Studying on how to evaluate an argument and build a persuasive case. This is one of the most important goals, as it can serve as a foundation for the other goals. I will be much more productive and satisfied as a student if I am having a good time while I learn the material. I will also need to develop strategic learning skills so that I will retain as much of the information as I can. The second goal I want to achieve is to gain the knowledge and skills in order to become a more valuable employee to my company. The first goal I desire to achieve is to maintain the motivation needed in order to earn my degree. By questioning their arguments, I will gain a deeper insight of the subject and will be able to see things from a different perspective. The first step in achieving this goal is to develop effective study skills so that I can gain as much knowledge from my classes at University of Phoenix as possible. This is a broad goal that encompasses many smaller goals that will need to be met in the process, including learning to manage my time wisely and effectively, staying focused on school, earning good grades and maintaining a positive attitude. to become more assertive with my thoughts within my learning team. The fourth goal I want to achieve as a University of Phoenix student is to have fun and enjoy myself as I work toward my degree. Enjoying myself in my studies will also play a large role in helping me to maintain the motivation that is necessary in order to earn my degree. Remaining motivated is not an easy task, but the help and support from my instructor and fellow classmates will make it much more simple and help me not to lose the drive within myself.
