The gift Of the Magi

             The story is narrated by the author. He sees what Dell sees, knows what she thinks and gives retrospective. He makes it seem like she is the one that is telling the story. Which means is in her point of view.
             Yes I trust him and it would change it because then you would not know about her and her decision making process.
             Della is a very caring person. She is going through a rough time and she is doing a good job showing her concern for her husband. The author is not Della in the present time of the story, but could be her narrating a story later in her life.
             The story takes place during Christmas and gives retrospective of the character's lives and living conditions.
             I think it takes place during the 1930's when there was a big depression. If it was set in another time then it would not have been that difficult to get each other a gift.
             I believe the tone is full of hope. I picture each other being tragic. Somebody doing something that would be very bad in order to help the cause but it turn out to be good. There is still hope for love.
             I did think that Della selling her hair was going to be very ironic but like I said it turned out just fine.
             The symbolism is that sacrifices must be made in order to keep your love satisfied.
             The Magi were the three wise men who brought gifts to baby Jesus in Bethlehem. They were the first ever to give Christmas gifts. The richest and wisest gift will always be the one that shows the most love.
             Was economically bad for all the classes.
             I can say that I would have related with the main character (Della) a while back. I would have given anything to someone but then life changes and I can't risk much for that. To show love, my wife only requires simple things. She is not material. She prefers time over gold. It's the details that matter.
