Should the Government silence dissent when at war?
Should the government silence dissent when it is at war? That is the question I am to write upon. No, I don't think that the government should silence dissent at any time. I think it is most important not to silence dissent especially in the time our country is at war. I think wars should be freely spoken about and the public should be able to protest and do whatever they feel is right. War should always be questioned and most of the time it is not the interest of the majority, but the minority. The unfair part about that is it is in the minority's favor the majority's loss. The majority is fighting and putting their life on the line for something they don't believe is worth it, but they do so because they are told that it is their patriotic duty to their country. It seems to me that if it is our patriotic duty to fight a war and the government is supposed to look after and do the best for our country as possible then should we even question the war. The government loves this country just
If people start fires and riots then it is time to settle things down. Why? Because they are to believe that it is their patriotic duty. By protesting maybe they think the government will hear their cry and put an end to the war and hopefully bring their loved ones back home. how is our country exercising our right to liberty and freedom of speech if the government is dissent about war. The government probably would not like to see the people protesting. If war is to be dissent about then why bother. People should have the right to say whatever they want about the war because chances are someone they love are in that war. In my opinion, the government should not silence dissent in a time of war. War is not something to be quiet about, it is to be spoken freely about and questioned and thought of for a very long time. But to stop a small group or a big group who is doing no harm is just wrong. Protests should be allowed and should not be stopped unless things get out of hand. They are there to help us and help exercise our rights. Some one is putting his or her life on the line for something that they may or may not believe in.
